SOLD Spilt – 22×30 inches – unframed – 2022

This piece was created using soft-core wax pencil and wax pastel  on high quality 184 lb mixed media paper. Lots of smudging, blending and Sgrafitto technique (scraping back layers) was used to create texture. Wax paper transfer was used to create the fine top layer marks. Restrict technique using hand cut vinyl stencils was used to make the defined edged elements.

There is no intent to create an image that looks like something. Rather, the work is an expression of things observed, seen, felt and thought about in the everyday. This is called Spilt, as in knocked over coffee cups or cracked drinking vessels. This is part of a series of pieces exploring broken or cracked or misshaped crockery.

Art is shipped in a sturdy dent-resistant cylindrical tube.
