Rheology – 18×24 inches – unframed – 2022
This piece was created using soft-core pencil, pastel, acrylic paint and graphite on high quality 184 lb mixed media paper. Lots of smudging, blending and Sgrafitto technique (scraping back layers) was used to create texture. Wax paper transfer was used to create the small spidery marks.
There is no intent to create an image that looks like something. Rather, the work is an expression of things observed, seen, felt and thought about in the everyday.
Rheology means the study of the flow of matter. I chose this title because the piece felt as though everything was moving slowly. Like petals and leaves drifting slowly down a stream.
Art is shipped in a sturdy dent-resistant cylindrical tube.
