Not Cricket (18×24 inches coloured pencil on paper unframed) 2022

This piece was created using soft-core pencil, pastel, acrylic paint and graphite on high quality 184 lb mixed media paper. Lots of smudging, blending and Sgrafitto technique (scraping back layers) was used to create texture. Wax paper transfer was used to create the small spidery marks. Restrict technique with tape is used for the cleaner edged elements.

There is no intent to create an image that looks like something. Rather, the work is an expression of things observed, seen, felt and thought about in the everyday.
I called this Not Cricket because it reminded me of flying cricket stumps – but not exactly. Something is askew – not right – the rules are not being followed.

Art is shipped in a sturdy dent-resistant cylindrical tube.
