The Ford Gallery Flower Power Show

MAY – JULY 2023

By definition, “flower power is a slogan used by and associated with flower children of the 1960s and 1970s as a representative of a movement for nonviolence, passive resistance and universal love.” Studies show that flowers have immediate impact on happiness and long term positive effect on moods. Flowers create intimate connections. Flowers also have healing powers. They connect us to Mother Earth in numerous ways. What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “flower power?” Whatever the thought, we want to see it.

Flower Power , a group exhibit, opens Friday, May 5th, 2023 at the Ford Gallery in SE PDX contemporary art gallery inside the iconic Ford Building……….. 2505 Se 11th Ave Portland, OR 97202 USA

VERUM ULTIMUM STRATA II SHOW
Manifesting Through the Layers

This second edition of STRATA: Manifesting through the layers takes flight with so many twists and turns.  The visual and symbolic layers build upon meaning, texture, variety, and exploration with connective threads of the figure, elements of nature, home, comfort, identity, and psychic undercurrents within a maximalist tapestry reflecting our complex time. The figure is a punctuating note within the striations of the narrative and appears as a disrupted (or an obscured) presence.  The surfaces and the chaotic interpretations serve as a mirror to the many convolutions of existence today.
